Amsted Rail is focusing its efforts on introducing to the Russian and CIS railway markets leading state-of-the-art railway technologies from its global manufacturing base and worldwide strategic partners. Leveraging its advanced technologies and production capacities in railway rolling stock manufacturing throughout the world, Amsted Rail is creating commercial relationships and joint ventures through strategic partnerships with Russian and CIS companies.
The quality, durability, and performance of our technologies have been proven in service by decades of operations on North American, Latin American, European, Asian, and other international railway systems. In many cases, Amsted Rail technologies have become the standard in those markets.
Amsted Rail companies are not new to Russia. As far back as the early 1930s, Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Combine manufactured Griffin wheels according to our technologies. Moreover, steam and diesel locomotives equipped with ASF car trucks were supplied to the USSR under the Lend-Lease programs during World War II and remained in operation within the Russian railroad network until the early 1990s.
Today Amsted Rail is establishing significant efforts to develop strategic partnerships and other cooperative initiatives to produce its proprietary technology in Russia and the CIS to raise quality and performance in the railway sector to new levels. Through its strategic partnerships, Amsted Rail offers all of its hallmark freight railcar technologies, including bogie systems, bearings, and end-of-car systems.
Within Amsted Rail, our companies specialize in the following areas:
- Car trucks for freight railcars and end-of-car products (ASF-Keystone).
- Cartridge-tapered bearing units (Brenco).
- Railway wheels (Griffin Wheel).
Amted Rail's interests in the CIS are represented by OOO Transolutions CIS, which has operated in the Russian and CIS railway market since 1996. Please see Company Profile section for more information on Transolutions CIS.
